Your Electricity Bill, Explained
Unit rate
This is the price you pay for each kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity your business uses. It varies between suppliers and usually has the biggest impact on your overall bill.
Standing charge
This is a fixed daily charge that covers the cost of keeping your business connected to the electricity network. You pay it every day, even if you don't use any electricity.
Levies & VAT
Government levies that support renewable energy generation. VAT applied at the standard business rate.
Network Charges
Costs for using the distribution network. These reflect when and how much you draw from the grid.
Find your connection type
For most medium sized businesses, your connection decides the type of plan you can access. Typically, you will use a MCC1 or MCC2 connection as you use less than 30kVA per annum. Yuno Energy entered the SME electricity market to provide a transparent daily forecast and usage data every 24 hours which will help you manage your energy budget.
If you manage multiple sites, you can qualify with the SME product. However, each electricity connection is a separate account, requiring its own initial payment and its own login email address.
| App based Account | |
| Meter types qualified | MCC1, MCC2 |
| Connection capacity | Under 30kVA |
| Location count | One account per connection (multi-site possible) |
| Initial payment structure | Separate for each connection or location |
| Login email addresses | One per connection (separate logins) |
| Managed through | Yuno Energy app |
The Yuno Energy App: Usage Data in Your Pocket
If your connections qualify under DG5, MCC1, or MCC2 with capacity below 30kVA, you can manage everything through the mobile app.
What the app shows:
- Usage data updated every 24 hours
- Daily Forecast predicting your expected daily spend in euro’s and KWH
- Everything at your fingertips on your phone
How billing works:
Your Prediction is calculated from your business's usage history and sets your advance payment. Each month, you're billed through the app 24 hours before your due date. Use less than predicted and the next payment reduces to match. See how we adjust payments to keep cash flow smooth.

Built for Businesses, Not Bolted On
Most commercial suppliers treat medium business electricity as an afterthought, bolted on to their residential or industrial product. Yuno Energy is one product across small, medium, and large businesses within the SME band - differentiated only by usage volume, not by feature set.
Yuno Energy is 100% Irish-owned and operated. Here's what that means in practice:
